Why Pearls?

When people think of pearls, they often think of luxury or heirlooms. For me, they represent something much simpler.

Growing up, trips to the Carolina coast were rare and always felt special. We'd wander through little beach towns, peek into boutique shops, admire strands of pearls and beautiful jewelry we'd never take home, and spend hours collecting shells along the shore. Those moments stayed with me long after we left.

Years later, while dreaming about TheLumbeeCottage, I kept coming back to those memories.

I didn't want to create jewelry that sat tucked away for special occasions. I wanted to create pieces that felt like the coast I remembered—soft, timeless, effortless, and meant to be worn every day.

Pearls became the natural place to begin.

To me, they represent quiet beauty. They don't ask for attention, yet they never go unnoticed. They become more meaningful over time, passed from one season of life to the next, collecting stories with every wear.

That's exactly what I hope TheLumbeeCottage becomes.

Not just a place to buy jewelry, but a place to collect little pieces of your own story.
